CREATION OF MY PRODUCTION CHALLENGE: In creating this product i started off by measuring a piece of 2 by 4 at 10 inches long cut it off with a compound mitre saw. After sawing this piece of wood off i designed a lightening bolt in the wood using a pencil and a square to make sure my lines were straight. After designing the lightening bolt i continued to mark out 10 holes within the bolt just to give the bolt little bit of design to it not just a plain piece of wood. Then using the band saw i cut off the excess wood and made the shape of a lightening bolt, then i sanded own the edges with sand paper to make it smooth and also to make sure i wouldn't get splinters. After that i went over to the drill press and set the depth stop for about half way through the wood and drilled out 4 of the hole i had marked that only went part way through the wood, as for the other 6 i made the depth stop so deep that the drill bit would go right on through the piece of wood and then i drilled the last 6 holes out. Lastly i sanded down all my edging and the surface of the body an made sure every edge and corner was smooth for no splinters, then i stained it with a paint brush and clear stain to give it a glossy finish and lightly sanded it and then put a second coat of stain on it and left it to dry over night and voila its done.
